100,000 Mile Service

Post by r.ranville » Sun Mar 20, 2016 3:04 pm

I have a 2006 Toyota Highlander with the 2.4 liter 4 cyl. engine. It is overdue for the recommended 100,000 mile service. Most of this is spark plugs and fluids, look at/change belts, hoses. Two things mentioned in online talk is replacing the water pump and timing belt, which are, I would think, bigger ticket items than the others. Any advice on how much trouble a guy good be asking for to omit those?
You might as well go fast; it'll go by fast anyway.

All-Data Pro says that engine has two timing chains (one for crank to cams, one for balance shaft) ... not a timing belt. It says to replace the coolant at 100K and your spark plugs at 120K. Do the maintenance charts in your owner's manual say something different?
