triple digit temps expected for race weekend 4. PACK WATER !

Heads up all for the coming club racing weekend. Triple digit temps are in the forecast. I would expect the club will consume a great deal of the " volunteer water" and ice. Advised to plan ahead, and bring as much water as you can for yourself. Packing a cooler of just ice and water for towels is a...

Re: The return of the 50/50 raffle ,,,,,,

Well, We have our first winner. As i expected, meeting attendance was good, as March thru May are usually strong for head count. Our first winner took $190.00,,from a single $5.00 ticket. Almost a race weekend entry fee. He promptly took some of his winnings to reserve a paddock spot. Many folks bou...

The return of the 50/50 raffle ,,,,,,

Once upon a time, we used to do 50/50 raffles at General Meetings, and at Sunday Night Trophies. They will be returning from hear on out,,, but, with a slight twist. 50 % to the winner,, and 50% to the TRACK PAVING FUND. It may not be huge chunks to the fund, i grant you, but every little bit does i...

Re: Questions About Getting Started

Daniel, First off , Welcome. No worries,, you are bout to get a lot of response. IN NO ORDER: IF you own a race car,,,, and it's ready,, use it. There are many times renting makes a lot of sense, for you,, only if you cannot get crew. CREW,,YES , you need some. One will do,, two is better. I bet if ...

Re: Gingerman, Grattan & Mid-ohio

2 cents you did not request ? Do Gingerman first, then Mid-o, and Grattan last. ( if you can ) Gingerman is pretty flat and techie.. great track for a first " away from Waterford" trip . Mid- o is great. Lot's of elevation changes,, a bit of everything,,,smooth is fast. Grattan is Gingerman,Mid-o, a...

Christian ,
Sure it is.
Look at this way, how many folks make EVERY race weekend year in year out ?
Five gives a better shot to those who plan accordingly.
Surely you read the list of reasons. :)

Re: 2015 schedule

Randy, Thanks for asking ! The reasons for going from 6 club weekends down to 5 were many. Bear in mind this was not an easy, or snap decision folks. It has been discussed by the B.O.D. for a few years. 1. While race weekends still do pay their own way, there are some weekends that just break even. ...

Sean, kind words thanks, but when when the driving is at the caliber level we had this past weekend, YOU guys make it easier for me. You guys drive the things, when you drivers rock, the announcer has an easier time keeping things interesting. When drivers rock, people on the other side of the fence...

Matt has a previous commitment / conflict and will not be able to attend. Greg Blastic also has a conflict, so for now you guys are stuck with me. I do not mind stepping in, but it would be great to hear a fresh voice or 2 give it a try. The first time is always the most nervous/ nerve wracking , bu...

Re: Saturday evening festivities?

Times change , people change , everything runs a course. That does not make it good or bad that the paddock is not the social Saturday night is used to be, it is what it is. Many of the regulars of that era have either passed away (Dave Shook and Jack Pringle come to mind,) or moved on to other inte...

That's great Alex, With Jim Kidd and Sean Grogan up to the task in my absence this weekend, and Matt Wolffe offering to help down the road as well, adding you would make a nice rotation . An easy way to meet and learn about everybody, is to announce trophies. You learn to put a face with the name, t...

Re: Saturday evening festivities?

Tim, No " planned " BBQ's for the time being, as the club could not achieve a " break even " on finances. ( when catered ) The old club grills have not fired up in some time, as staffing and finances were still a concern and need. I miss the simple days of bring your own and throw it on the club gri...
